I keep thinking of the line "what if time running out is a gift" from Jason Isbell's "If We Were Vampires," and also the movie About Time (especially the wonderful ending scene). But I love that your reflections on finitude center around the play Our Town.

Yes, that. That exactly. I hadn’t heard that song before but just gave it a listen. Love that line. And About Time is such a great movie and reflection on time, not to mention a tear-jerker. Glad to be able to bring those to mind!

This is a wonderful and thought-provoking piece, Tyler. “It is important enough.” That made me tear up. And Ecclesiastes is my favorite book in Scripture.

Again — powerful and poignant. Your thoughts remind me of Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” Personally, I think that one of the joys of heaven will be to truly see the work of the Painter and to fully know the story that the Author is telling, in which we are His supporting characters.
